WTEM 980 - Washington, DC

This site has been used for Washington, DC's 980 outlet (WRC, WWRC, WTEM, etc.) for some time. It is located at 6000 Ager Road in Hyattsville, Maryland. Access was fairly easy. There is a driveway which leads from Ager Road to the main gate that you can park your car on. I also took some pictures at the end of Oglethorpe Street. The site is enclosed with a fence and of course the gate was locked, so all of my shots were taken from outside the enclosure. There are three towers, two that are self-supported and one that is guyed. The two self-supported towers are 250 feet tall and the guyed tower is 400 feet tall and has a capacitance hat on it for top loading. The transmitter building is visible from the main gate to the right. You can even see the original WRC letters over the main entrance. Enjoy! Click on the thumbnails for the full view
